Roger Thomasson is a visual artist based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His work explores the intertwining themes of memory, ecology, and belonging. He approaches image-making as a means of both preservation and transformation, attempting to navigate the fragile space between holding on and letting go.
Working closely with the flora of the desert Southwest, he often turns his attention to overlooked and misunderstood species. Through studies of light, chemistry, and time, he reflects on the persistence of life and embraces the tenderness that emerges in efforts to preserve, even when the battle seems already lost.
